My wife and I started Crystal Clear Plumbing in the metro Phoenix, Arizona area in 1984. Prior to this I had worked for Roto-Rooter in Reno Nevada for 7 years. When my friend and mentor Frank Brewer sold that franchise I left for warmer parts. Frank had been in that business for some thirty years or more and I learned a lot. We started with no money and and a couple of broken down drain machines Mr Brewer had given me. My wife would get up at 12 midnight and go to a spot where they delivered bundle news paper and spend three hours folding and banding. She then came home woke me at 3 am and I delivered the papers the entire base of the superstition mountains. When I got home I loaded my tools into my small truck and headed for my day job At Ramada Executive Offices where I was a facilities engineer. My schooling in hvoc came in very handy at this point as we worked and maintained packaged ac/heatpumps. We even changed one of the cooling towers while I was there. My wife was babysitting and taking calls for the business. After a while on my day job I was able to set up a flex schedule so I could break off go do a job and come back. It took a toll on both of us to survive but we did. After a couple of years and a few good customers, mostly commercial we were able to start cutting back on the grind. There is plenty more to this story, but you get the drift.
When I worked for Roto-Rooter I developed a sense of real accomplishment getting people out of trouble. Plumbing isn't rocket science and I didn't really think I would be in it this long. My Heavenly Father saw it differently I guess, cause here I am, 40 years later. When I or my crew can get someone out of trouble, it's a giant accomplishment. May not seem like much to many. Jesus was a carpenter. May not seem like much to many. Because of this business we have been able to live our own lives. Raise three perfect kids and God has blessed us with 14 grand kids and two great grandchildren. Might not seem like much to some. To me it is everything. My intention is to continue this business till one of them completely takes the reins. And I will say; "This is what the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it." The greatest single satisfaction to my job is knowing that I can go to someone's home, diagnose the problem, communicate the needed action to the homeowner, and then carry out the correction in a timely manner making the consumer happy while putting them at ease in knowing that they have received the best value for the money spent. Each time we go to a new customers home or place of business, we approach it as an opportunity to make a new friend. People do business with those they know, like and trust. We don't want to talk anyone into buy anything, but if they do need or want something plumbing related, I want them to buy it from me. There is a tremendous amount of satisfaction in knowing that a need or want was met by Crystal Clear Plumbing.
This industry, like all the others is growing and advancing by leaps and bounds. The continued education of technicians is mandatory if anyone is to stay long term in this field. This is very costly due to taking time away from the business and the travel and staying etc. The techs have to continue their education. This is not an option. If they are going to stay with this company, they have to advance their knowledge base on a regular bases. When each tech is hired, the first week is nothing but training. The first three days are filled with watching videos and the last two are training with me. Technicians with this kind of expertise are not cheap. There is an old saying in this business; "What if I train them and they leave?"We say; "what if you don't train them and they stay?" We were up until I had health issues involved with the local apprentice training program. I believe it is obligation and duty to properly train those coming up behind us.
I started my business as I said above in 1984. Ran it until 2016. I ran into some health issues and was forced to suspend it while I battled my condition. My feet had gone to sleep. I had no feeling in them at all. My arms and hands began to do the same. I started in with Arizona doctors. My son came down and rescued me and brought me to his home in Mt Vision, New York. I started going to the doctors in Cooperstown, New York and they could find no resolve to the problem. The doctor that did the nerve testing on me said I was the first case he had seen in 30 years that had two opposite signals going to my extremities. My feet were not getting the signal from my brain and my brain
was not getting the signal from my hands. I honestly thought I was going to be dead before long. The only thing they did was experiment with different drugs and then at the end put me on mega dose of vitamins. Told me that they did not see any reason why and that I better just plan on staying this way. After a few months, started getting the feeling back. Arms and hands 100 percent, feet about 95 percent. I figure any day this side of the dirt is a good day.:)

We strive to exceed expectations by ensuring that all plumbing work is completed to the highest standards. We will provide you with a free consultation to explain all of your available options so that you can choose the scope or work that’s right for your home or business.
Best of all we use a trademarked system of pricing call 'NO NONSENSE PRICING' whereby the customer knows before any work is started how much money they will be paying.
Our techs are fully trained, background checked and drug tested.
We are fully licensed, bonded and insured. We carry workers compensation insurance.
Why is this important to you?
1. If my company burns down your house, (heaven forbid), my insurance kicks in and covers you 100%. Now you might think that that is not a big deal as your own insurance will cover it. Most will not. Your insurance company will investigate to see the cause of the fire and will not generally cover it if an unlicensed contractor was hired. This is very expensive insurance for us who carry it and this is part of the reason you see people out there working cheaper.
2. If a serviceman gets injured on your property and he is not covered by workers compensation, you may be liable for his medical and other expenses.
3. There are a great number of other reasons for hiring a licensed contractor such as recovery systems installed by the ROC, training etc.
Always hire only licensed contractor in any field.
100 percent satisfaction guaranteed. My promise to you; you will be completely satisfied even if it costs me money.
We serve both residential and commercial clients and offer a variety of money-saving solutions. We combine our use of the highest quality parts and equipment, and our dedication to delivering exceptional work to provide you with satisfactory service.
